Nosara is located on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, about halfway down the Nicoya Peninsula.
The area, which actually includes three beaches, is known collectively as Beaches of Nosara.

Playa Guiones is the most developed area in Nosara, and the spot to go for great surfing. Numerous
restaurants can be found here, as well as some small shops and a bank . The town of Nosara, a few
miles inland, has a small airport, some small grocery stores and some fantastic inexpensive restaurants 

The beaches of Nosara area has been developed with a strong respect for the surrounding environment.
Homes and businesses are tucked into the jungle, allowing local wildlife to thrive. The first 200 meters of
land next to all three beaches is protected as part of the Ostinal National Wildlife Refuge. This means there
is really no "beach-front" property in Nosara, which hides homes and development from view. Nosara is a
quiet and relaxing place, great for families, eco-tourists, and of course - surfers. Playa Guiones has some of the most consistent surf in all of Costa Rica, and because there are no big hotel developments in the area it stays pretty un-crowded. The waves can get big, but a sandy bottom means it is great for beginners to.
